Journalism Australia is a project for a new association for media professionals.
Its foundational premise is simple: journalism should serve the public. Everything we do flows from that idea.
The organisation will become the home for journalists and journalistic content creators who are committed to excellence, legal and ethical literacy and public accountability.
We are building Journalism Australia from the ground up, and we want your input. If you are a journalist or creator, register with us and we will keep you up to date with news and opportunities to contribute to its development.
We want JA to be the professional home for journalists and content creators in Australia who are committed to upholding professional and ethical standards.
Membership is open to all those — from legacy media journalists to independent digital creators, students, volunteers and academics — who demonstrate they understand JA’s standards and commit to applying them.
That principle shapes every element of the strategy, from the way standards are developed to the way members are recruited. A code of ethics and accountability mechanism will be developed through a deliberative process, engaging professionals and ordinary Australians in defining what journalism owes them.
